"I started having contractions at 1 a.m., but stayed lying in bed with my son. Around 2:30 a.m., I woke up my parents to let them know I was in labor. After spending some time laboring on the living room floor, I asked my dad to call my husband (he is at the police academy), so he would make it home in time. My contractions had been pretty consistent since 1 a.m. coming every 1-2 minutes lasting 35 seconds. I am not sure of the time frame, but my husband had gotten home, and a few minutes later Rebecca got to our home. I was lying on the couch in the living room when they both got there, and headed to our bed shortly after. I lost the mucus plug, and labored in bed. I had Rebecca check where I was at in dilation, and I was 10 cm. At that point, my water had also broke. I tried pushing lying down (I had back labor), but Rowan's heart rate wasn't doing well, so I got on all fours to push. Thankfully that helped. Within a few pushes, and squeezing my husbands and Rebecca's hands, Rowan had made it safely into the world.
My birth story isn't very detailed or exciting, because I was in my own little world trying to make it through with only 2-3 hours of sleep.
But I can say it was the best birth experience I have had. Rebecca made the pregnancy so enjoyable. I actually looked forward to my appointments with her (can't say that with my first pregnancy). She became a friend, and that was a great feeling. She is full of knowledge, and respects your decisions (100% giving you informed concent). I felt so comfortable around her, and knew without a doubt she would take care of myself and my child.
To sum it all up, if you are looking for a caring, loving, passionate, knowledgable, respectful midwife, look no further. Rebecca is everything you could ask for in a midwife. I am very thankful we found her, and I will definitely be using her for any future pregnancies."
